Since then, the construction and design continue to be redefined making the Artist 60’s series a pretty hard bunch to compare. The result of months of R&D produced the early 60’s series which helped to set Artist Series apart from other solid top lines and go on to win a host of awards at shows and in guitar magazines around the world. In tandem with developing our Artist Series, we were also developing bracing systems such as FST2 at the Yairi workshops, and bracing systems we cut there by hand were reproduced by machine for Artist Series in order to create “our sound” throughout our brand. The goal and therefore the whole approach of the team was to simply make the best performing entry level guitar available.

It became the benchmark model, a reference in which other brands and our previous models were measured. The SYS650 is available on all Alvarez Artist* and Masterworks electric acoustic guitars.Back in 2010, the AD60 was the model which our then new design team first focused on. The system also has a fully chromatic, precision tuner with backlit LCD screen 3-bands of rotary EQ and a great notch control that identifies and deals with any feedback extremely well. Either pick up can be selected or you can blend between the two to find subtle changes in response for lead, picking or rhythm work. The SYS650 is a dual pick-up system incorporating one under saddle pick up and a transducer pick up placed under the soundboard. A Piezo pickup tends to import a sound of their own into the electrified tone, which is often described as synthetic You dont get this with the B-BAND technology which works similar to that of a condenser microphone, allowing for excellent reproduction of the instruments true voice. The 650 uses B-BANDs patented electret film technology instead of Piezo materials.
